Aboreng Pisang (2022) is a playful physical signage project created in Year 2 Semester 1 as part of a design brief to communicate identity through humor and image-making.
The name “Aboreng” is a cheeky portmanteau of “aboriginals” and “goreng” (Malay for “fried”), paired with “pisang” (banana), imagining a whimsical brand where Aboriginals open a stall selling their own version of goreng pisang (fried bananas).

The project draws visual inspiration from retro restaurant signage and explores various materials, including EL wires as a cost-effective alternative to traditional neon lights. The result is a nostalgic yet humorous piece that merges cultural references with design techniques to present a speculative, light-hearted identity through signage.
